Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

We went in search of the perfect Christmas tree.  Kyle went on the hunt for their tree as well.  This adventure was more like going to Lowes, Harris picking the first tree that was tall enough and saying that was the one.  Not exciting and I tried to insist that we needed to look at least three trees to pick out our favorite.

Tupelo Christmas Parade

We actually spent a weekend in Tupelo during hunting season and enjoyed going to the Tupelo Christmas Parade on Saturday morning.  It was a wonderful small-town parade.

Miss Independent.  You have to go after her because she could care less if she is wandering off by herself.  She goes over the hill to the bottom of the pasture to check out another garden area my dad planted and to climb on a trailer he has parked down there.

Sadie's 2nd Surgery

Sadie had surgery to repair a torn ACL three months ago.  At 3 months post-op she just wasn't as far along with her rehabilitation as we had hoped.  She was still not fully using her right leg, the leg was atrophied, and she just wasn't our Sadie.  So we took her back to the vet and he wasn't happy as well with her progress.  We decided the next course of action was x-rays to determine what was going on.  

Two of the findings on her injured right knee:

-severe joint effusion (fluid on the knee) and

-septic arthritis (inflammation of the join due to a bacterial or fungal infection 

 

After the x-rays were looked at by a radiologist specialist and I received opinions from our regular Memphis vets, it was concluded that her body was most likely rejecting the internal suture and needed it removed as well as her leg had an infection.  The suture stabilized her knee and wasn't of any use anymore so no technical harm by removing it (besides another huge vet bill).  The fluid in her knee would also be cultured and sent to a lab to determine what type of infection she had and antibiotics to treat it.  It would be another major surgery with the incision the same as the first but it was the next step on her road to recovery.

We went ahead and scheduled surgery for the next day on Friday.  She spent the night at home after surgery being well taken care of by Doctor/Nurse Clayton.

When Harris picked her up, it was apparent she was already feeling better even after major surgery.  The vet found infection all around the suture and removed the suture as well as cleaned out the area very well trying to rid it of as much infection as possible.  We have to wait a week to hear back from the lab to see what type of infection she has and what type of antibiotic she will need to take.  We are hopeful that we are on the road to Sadie's recovery with after this major setback.  

We all love "Tripod" but want our four-legged baby back to her ole self asap.
