Big Brother is Watching
I was on the phone with Harris and said, "I think I just ran that light. Hope there wasn't a camera."
Well, there was! My mom received this in the mail today.
(Notice I said "my mom". A perk of having your license plate registered to your mom. So technically I guess paying this is optional. Just kidding, mom.)
This photo looks like I'm running the red light like any other horrible Memphis driver however, unlike them I actually have insurance. But seriously, my car crossed the line 0.42 seconds after the signal turned red. I would have had to jam on my brakes.
And speaking of jamming on the brakes...when you were little, would your mom throw her arm across your chest when you were in the front seat when she had to "slam" on the brakes? My mom still does it and it cracks me up. I catch myself doing this when Sadie is riding in the front with me...yikes, hope I'm not morphing into my mom.
Anyway, the ticket gave me a good laugh (Dad, not so much).

Happy Birthday Harris!
Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband and baby's daddy!
Clayton, Sadie, and I wanted to send him our love on his birthday. And why not with a singing telegram! Harris doesn't like being the center of attention and probably didn't want his co-workers to know it was his birthday, so it's PERFECT!
After much research by our sweet friend Brittany (and chatting while she got her nails done), she found us the number of a person who typically visits children's birthdays. But was very willing to pay Harris an extra special visit.
And in the process I've discovered a perk about Tupelo:
you can find a lady who will dress in a Mickey Mouse costume for $25; she will even go to Kroger and order the balloons; and trusts you to mail her a check even though she has no clue who you are.
Seriously $25 (plus the cost of the balloons)...Amazing! I hope she has other costumes cause who wouldn't want a special visitor every once in awhile?

Happy Birthday Mimi!
Happy Birthday to the most wonderful mom and grandmother anyone can have!
(Christine has "banned" me from posting pics of her so this is all of the birthday you get.)

Babas, Booze and the Great Outdoors
We went to Louisiana last weekend to spend some time at our hunting camp. All the girls (Chris, Ella, Mary, Mom, Clayton and myself) went into Monroe one day for my aunt and great aunt and uncle to meet Clayton and Ella. We spent the rest of the time fishing and relaxing. It was a great mini vacation!

Can anyone ever get bored of seeing alligators? Not me. (Well, I guess as long as I'm not seeing them in the same body of water I'm swimming in but we are in Louisiana and they are pretty much everywhere. Just don't think about it when jumping off the dock.)

And thank goodness I got some sun so I'm not this ghostly anymore.

A highlight of the trip for me was teaching Mary a little of the history of Somerset Plantation. In short, the owner burned the plantation house to prevent northern troops from using it during the Civil War. There are remnants such as broken china and bullets. Mary thought it was so neat just as I did when I was little.
A few interesting pieces we found this trip were a Lea & Perrin bottle stop, marble, button, part of a brick that said Louisiana on it, and a piece of a bottle that said Tallulah, LA (town 20 miles north- don't think it's from the 1800's but it was still a neat find).
I made picture frames with my findings when I was younger.
Yep, they had smocked dresses on while fishing.
This picture pretty much sums up our weekend: babas, booze, and the great outdoors.
Oh and I have to mention how excited I am that The Bottle Shop reopened!!! I LOVE their margaritas (I won't mention the number I consumed over the weekend.) And their crawfish is really good too. For those of you who are wondering what The Bottle Shop is. It's the drive-thru store in Tallulah, LA.

My Cover Girl
Clayton and I often have "photo shoots." These are a few of my favorites.
Of course, Sadie isn't left out.

But, Mom...
I can hear it now.
Mom...
"...Ella hit me."
"...Ella's cabbage patch doll is prettier than mine."
"...Ella is getting her ears pierced."
"...Why does Ella get a cell phone?"
"...Ella's mom let's her stay out til 12."
"Mom, did you know Ella is my best friend."

3 Months of Lessons Learned
I can't believe Clayton is 3 months old today.
In those 3 months I've learned a lot:
- giving Clayton sherbet or letting her lick a popsicle may be entertaining at the time, but you will be cleaning up throw-up shortly after
- shopping with a baby makes you think twice (3 or 4 times) if it's worth the effort, so when taking a baby to a liquor store, stock up
- there are very few times when a task can be completed without interruption so daily to-do lists are really weekly wishful thinking
- buying baby clothes is much more fun than buying something for yourself, but even though it's less fabric don't think you're going to save any money
- don't be upset when poop gets on your hand, cause it's most likely not the last time
But most of all I've learned to enjoy every minute because it sure does fly by.

God, I'm here!
My mom, Clayton and I went to church for Ash Wednesday today. It was Clayton's first time to go to church. I thought I'd run out if she cried but never thought about what I'd do if she........decided she needed to "potty" while everyone was silent during communion.
Guess this was Clayton's way of letting God know she was there.

What's with her name?
Betty is my grandmother's name (my mom's mom), Betty Margaret Middleton Moore.
Betty is also Harris' grandmother's name (his mom's mom), Betty Jane Harris Jourdan.
Clayton is my middle name and my great grandmother's name (my dad's grandmother), Clayton Mullin.
And although we love the name Betty, we decided to call her Clayton because Betty Rhea sounds redneck.
