Clayton was 8 months old yesterday.
- Clayton is truly a sweet baby (I'm sure most people would say this about their baby). She loves to snuggle and give hugs and kisses. Her kisses consist of a wet, wide-open mouth that is sure to cover your face in slobber. Her hugs are when she grabs you and digs her face in your chest and most of the time while kicking her legs and squealing in excitement.
- She is very observant and aware of her surroundings. Taking her in John's room with many mounted animals is so funny. She stares and stares. And while in a restaurant or in a store, she is definitely going to be one of those gawking kids who we'll have to repeatedly say, "stop staring."
- She loves animals! She adores Sadie (Sadie I wouldn't say adores her) and loves my parent's cat, Tommy. It's so cute how she lights up when she sees them across the room and makes some type of noise trying to get their attention. She usually smiles really big when she sees Sadie and stares at her in admiration it seems. But quickly she looks at Sadie as someone to crawl to and jump on. Sadie typically sees her coming and runs. When she seems Tommy, she stares at him inquisitively wanting to get near him and touch him. She loves petting Tommy and is surprising gentle with him.
- She is a wagon-riding queen. She could ride in the wagon forever. Pawpaw (my dad) took her for a wagon ride and she even put her head on the side and fell asleep. Couldn't have been comfortable but she would rather pass out while having fun then miss out of a wagon ride. She falls asleep in her chair in the bath sometimes too. Amazing.
- Surprisingly her eyes are still very blue. I never thought that I'd have a blue-eyed baby (come to think about it but I never thought about what color eyes my baby would have....doesn't/didn't really matter). But Harris has pretty blue eyes so I'd be so happy if she had her dad's eyes forever.
- Clayton is a nightmare to go to sleep. Put her in her crib for a nap and she screams bloody-murder until she is basically hyperventilating. And as I call it, an emotional wreck. She is extremely needy when it comes to getting her to sleep. She fights sleep so much. We are working on this but it's definitely a work in progress.....and she's winning the battle. I'm just hoping we can win the war. I dream of the day we can put her in the crib and she goes to sleep with no fuss or production.
- She is an ADHD posterchild. She is constantly on the go and can't sit still for long. Probably contributes to the nightmare of not wanting to calm down enough and sleep. She keeps us on our toes and we are definitely going to have to rely on caffeine if we plan on keeping up with her.
- Clayton loves getting kisses....most of the time. When we get in her face and she doesn't want us to steal her sugar, you now receive a "slap" from a little hand telling you to step back. It's just one side of her temper she likes to show.
- She loves attention and definitely has only-child syndrome as she would prefer someone to entertain her 24/7. Thankfully baby jail is teaching her to entertain herself with all of her toys. Hopefully she'll continue to learn that her toys are her siblings for now.
- Her facial expressions are priceless. She is very expressive with her eyebrows and has a bunch of serious faces. Many times people say she looks mad.
- Clayton loves for you to give her water from your glass. She got so excited the first couple of times we gave her water and instantly loved it. Most people know that the Gaiennie's love their styrofoam cups. Well surprise but we use those around the house for water too. So now Clayton associates styrofoam cups with water. Which is a bad when she catches you off guard and reaches for your "water" spilling your freshly-made cocktail everywhere.
- She is loud. She enjoys screaming for fun and makes going out to dinner an embarrassing situation. Not little baby screams. This is ear-piercing crazy screams.
- She loves to stand up. Anywhere, anytime Clayton's favorite position is to be standing. She will pull up on anything. She used to grab things right in her line of sight but now she will pull up to a table much taller than her and start pulling down anything that's up there. Highchair, bath tub, wagon, don't turn around too long cause she's going to stand up. And it won't be long until she falls.
